Hegura-jima, Japan 25th May 2009

25/5/09 Out by 4.30am to cold temperatures and low cloud and a N3 breeze. The cloud cleared by midday leaving hazy sunshine but a cool afternoon. The morning yielded few new migrants and there was again no sign of the Pitta. The afternoon immediately produced a Striated Heron and the late afternoon typically proved productive at the Tsukasa fields with Lanceolated and Middendorff’s Warblers, Little and Japanese Yellow Bunting and a newly-arrived male Daurian Starling.
