Hegura-jima, Japan 26th May 2009

26/5/09 Out by 4.30am to low cloud and virtually calm conditions. A slight southerly breeze by midday by when sunny and hot. The morning produced 4 male Siberian Thrushes but was largely otherwise quiet apart from an arrival of 35 Brown-eared Bulbuls before lunch followed by 20 arriving before almost immediately departing again low over the sea at the southern end of the island. Both Arctic Warblers and Brown Flycatchers were conspicuous by late afternoon suggesting another afternoon arrival of new migrants.
